Weekly Message from the Principal
06-March-20
At this time of year it is wonderful to see the new buds begin to peak out of the soil, watch as the cherry blossom trees show signs of colour and close your eyes to feel the warmth of the sun on your face– all of these things have happened this week in Willow. However, the words above from Pope Francis remind us of the true meaning of fasting through the 40 days of this very important season.
Lent should be a time when we fast from negative thoughts and feelings and take time to watch and wonder at the season of Spring and witness new life blossoming around us on the Willow campus. We must try and fast from game consoles, phones and television programmes and hopefully enjoy the longer hours of sunshine outside. I am looking forward to witnessing Sixth Form receive the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit on Saturday morning the 7th of March.
As Principal I will be extremely proud to witness all 112 young men receive the gifts of wisdom, understanding, right judgement, courage, knowledge, respect, wonder and awe in front of your sponsors, parents, brothers, sisters and other relatives. Throughout your lives you will use these gifts to guide you in making difficult decisions and most importantly helping others.
Please remember our school motto – Fides et Robur ‘Faith and Strength’. From a strong, deep faith in God comes great strength to face any challenge.
THOUGHT OF THE WEEK
I arise today
Through the strength of heaven:
Light of sun,
Radiance of moon,
Splendour of fire.
Speed of lightning,
Swiftness of wind,
Depth of sea,
Stability of earth,
Firmness of rock.
Saint Patrick
