Un tout grand merci à tous les élèves de Willow Park car plus de 500 élèves sont venus sur scène chanter et danser à l'occasion de la journée française 2020. Quelle belle journée, c'était magnifique, bravo d'avoir chanter en français!
Madame Dandois would like to thank the whole school who sang, danced and acted last Friday to celebrate France and its language.
Everybody played a part to make this day very successful: the hub and the corridors of the school looked beautiful thanks to all the art the boys made. There were French flags and drawings of French monuments everywhere in the school. The gym was busy for the whole morning, welcoming 19 classes in total for songs in French, dances or talent acts.
Sixth forms worked very hard for 3 weeks on a talent they wanted to show the school in French, as a talent show (Willow Park a un incroyable talent) took place on French Day. Everybody auditioned the week before, and out of 20 groups 10 qualified for the final that took place on the stage on French Day. There were small dramas (created and written by the boys), extracts of songs (and some dancing!), parodies and jokes. Congratulations to the three groups who won and especially to Daniel and Jack D - M6 who won with their & comédie & (jokes) in French.
French cuisine was also honoured on French Day this year, as 6th formers enjoyed a cooking demo with Clodagh Grimley, who lived in France before and who has been giving cookery lessons since then. Clodagh also gave a small speech to 5th and 6th forms about her life in France. It was very interesting and the boys were able to see pictures of many (new) aspects of France.
Merci as well to all the staff in Willow who practised the songs with their classes, as well as Catherine Madden and Justine and Damien who gave lots of their time to help the boys with their songs or their acts.
And lastly, a huge thank you to Mr Aidan Cronnelly (dad of Euan in J3) who provided us with 800 delicious croissants (all gone before the end of the day!), and the mums who volunteered to help and made this French Day a very enjoyable day for all.
Enjoy a sample of French Songs in the Hub from Senior Infants.
