Children Helping Children

Many moons ago the founder of our school Fr. Stanley CSSp launched a project called ‘Children Helping Children’. Some of the Willow past pupils may remember the Earth globes placed in the classroom by Fr. Stanley. The objective was to evoke an awareness of the connections between all children regardless of their circumstances.

To continue with the tradition, teachers from Willow bring small items as tokens of friendship from the Willow boys to their counterparts in Africa. During the mid-term break Áine O Donoghue, Clare MacGinty, Dearbhla Regan and Sarah o Sullivan are going to Kenya to visit school, hospitals and orphanages.

If any of the boys would like to share something with the African children we would be delighted to receive any of the following items.

The items may be placed in boxes, outside classrooms, labelled Kenya 2020.

  • Pencils, Twistables, chalk, copies, colouring books, sharpeners rubbers
  • Football jerseys and shorts (don’t need to be new)
  • deflated footballs, rugby balls and pumps (hard ground tends to puncture footballs)
  • Skipping Ropes
  • Packets of balloons
  • Flip flops
  • Children’s bracelets, necklaces and hairbands
  • Small items such as those put into party bags
  • Recorders or plastic flutes

Thank you for your kindness.

Áine O Donoghue, Clare MacGinty, Dearbhla Regan, Sarah o Sullivan
